The music business has had major issues with artists and producers not getting paid their fair share. Another issue that arises is artists and producers not knowing where their revenue streams can possibly come from. Both of these issues, more times than not, are connected because independent and aspiring artists are not educated on the nuances of these transactional businesses.
Rights, Royalties, and Distribution
The National Collegiate Entertainers Group (NCEG) wants to educate the student artist on intellectual property and how to get paid for your passion. This panel was created for that very reason. The goal is to leave this panel with a better understanding of how to protect your art and distribute your music, as well as where specifically you can collect your money.
CJ Olivieri is the Senior Director of Client Acquisition a Songtrust, which is a do-it-yourself publishing administration for independent artists. Chantal Jones is an attorney that specializes in entertainment and real estate law.
